1200 pieces of flint stones dating back to 250, 000 years ago were unearthed at al-Sharar Valley near Daraa, Southern Syria.

The Syrian Archaeological Expedition working at the site of Palmyra’s northern defensive wall (Central Syria) has unearthed tower tombs  close to the wall.
Head of Palmyra Antiquities Department Walid Asa’ad said Wednesday the square-shaped burial has a two-slab decorated stone gate. The doorway leads to the roof of the burial place through stairs.

The Syrian national archaeological team unearthed an important and unique archaeological cemetery dating back to the Romanian era at the village of Ma’rin al-Jabal, southeast of the city of Hama (central Syria).

the Syrian-Japanese Archaeological Expedition uncovered 13 individual graves during their work at the private burial chamber number 129 located near the Northern defensive wall of the ancient city of Palmyra.
The graves were used to bury children that apparently were less than two years old when they died. Some of the graves are simple holes in the grounds containing a coffin, in addition to two graves consisting of medium-sized clay jars containing skeletons of children that are estimated to have been only a few months old when they died.

The archaeological excavations at the royal palace in the ancient city of Qatna, north east of the Syrian city of Homs, have once again unfolded a remarkable archaeological discovery. The summer excavations, due to end on the 25th September 2009, located a rock tomb-cellar underneath the palace containing hundreds of artefacts as well as human bones from the period 1600-1400 BC.

A cathedral with a skeleton remains in it, dating back to the Byzantine era, was unearthed by the Syrian excavation team in Tal Al-Hasaka site, north eastern Syria.
The cathedral ,which dates back to the Early Christianity Era, is 18 meters long, and includes a four meter wide northern hall, a 6.5 meter wide middle hall and a three meter wide southern hall, Al-Hasaka Archeology Director Abdul-Maseeh Baghdo said in a press release last Saturday.
